Rains continue to hit the city of Dar es Salaam making it impassable especially for motorist each time it rains.
Dar es Salaam residents are now used to the rains, that when it starts, people normally leave their workplaces early to avoid staying in a traffic for longer hours.
Today, for example in the morning hours, there was heavy downpour causing a heavy traffic jam.
The rains that started at around 04:00 hours havoc in the city and the outskirts as far as Chanika, Pugu Kajiungeni, Mbezi-Kimara, and Bunju way to Bagamoyo all roads had a heavy traffic jam.
Whenever it rains people normally experience late reporting to work due to the traffic jam. A short distance of about 5 minutes at normal hours could take almost three hours when it rains in Dar es Salaam.
There are reports in other cities like Tanga where bridges have been swept, infrastructure damaged and electric poles collapsed.
Director General of Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) Dr. Agness Kijazi warned that the downpours are set to continue.
