At least 22 people have died and 78 others seriously injured after the truck they were travelling in overturned in the town of Ben Velid in Western Libya.
Reports said the truck- was ransporting more than 100 illegal immigrants of different nationalities into Libya.
Ali En-Nakarat, Ben Velid President of the Council of Local Authorities of the Municipality told AA Correspondent that the truck was entering the country illegally through a road connecting Es-Saddede and El-Karara districts, south of the city.
En-Nakarat said the accident might have occurred because of the excessive speed.
The Leader of the council said he has contacted the Ministry of Health and the Presidential Council of the National Reconciliation Government to help treat the wounded.
Already the security unit have launched an investigation into the accident.
