The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has given the assurance that outspoken party Member of Parliament Makhosi Khoza will be safe during her disciplinary hearing in Durban on Sunday.
The provincial leadership turned down Khoza's request for her disciplinary hearing to be held outside Durban following her security concerns.
The hearing is scheduled to start at 09:00 at the party's provincial offices.
Khoza is accused of bringing the party into disrepute. She has also called for President Jacob Zuma's resignation on several occasions.
ANC provincial spokesperson, Mdumiseni Ntuli says, “We are very certain that nothing will threaten her life or the lives of any other comrades. If there will be a suspicion of one form or another, the law enforcement agencies are going to be alerted to that and I think we are expecting a disciplinary process that is going to unfold very smoothly. The proceedings are going to unfold in a manner that is defined by the ANC constitution and the rules of discipline of the African National Congress.”
