The United Kingdom is planning to deport Zimbabweans living in that country illegally, sources have said.
Media reported that the UK High Commissioner for Zimbabwe, Catriona Lang told Vice President of Zimbabwe Kembo Mohadi that Britain was going to send back 2,500 illegal immigrants.
Zimbabwe had been home to hundreds of British settlers. Former president Robert Mugabe’s land reforms soured the relationship between UK and Zimbabwe.
Already the British Prime Minister Theresa May has announced her country’s intention to reduce the number of illegal immigrants living in that country.
The Vice President said in response according to sources that the Southern African country was ready to receive its citizens but had to be vetted first.
He said they must be scrutinized to assure themselves if they were true Zimbabweans.
