THE government has formed a committee to help outsource contractors to implement various projects in the 2018/19 financial year.
The Minister for Water and Irrigation Isaack Kamwelwe said today in parliament that the government has already signed a deal with the Republic of India for a Sh500million grant for water projects.
He asked legislators to await the commencement and implementation of the projects.
The minister was responding to a query raised by legislators including the Chama Cha Mapiduzi (CCM) legislator for Njombe William Mgaya who wanted to know governments strategy to end water woes in Njombe region and the country at large.
Responding, the deputy minister for water and irrigation Jumaa Aweso assured legislators that the government has already disbursed Sh1.1billion for water projects in the country.
He said currently, there was no water problem in Njombe region where at least 90 per cent of the residents were getting clean and safe drinking water.
