DEPUTY speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Tulia Ackson today refused to grant the premier Kassim Majaliwa a chance to answer a question in parliament because it was linked to religious beliefs.
She said just as the speaker of the national assembly Job Ndugai refused to grant the premier to answer to a question from Saidi Kubenea, the legislator for Ubungolast month, she was also going to do the same to Vunjo MP for NCCR-Mageuzi James Mbatia.
Mbatia had sought for steps taken by the government in connection with the controversial documents issued by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) and the Tanzania Episcopal Conference on lent season this year.
However, the intervention by the deputy speaker made the premier Kassim Majaliwa fail to answer the query.
"Such religious issues are not allowed to be asked in the house of law," the deputy speaker said.
