THE government plans to upgrade Siha health centre in Siha district to a district hospital in the 2018/19 financial year.

Deputy minister of State in President’s office responsible for local government and regional administration Josephat Kandege said today when responding to a question raised by the Chama Cha Mpinduzi (CCM) legislator Esther Michael Masi (CCM) who wanted to know plans by the government to upgrade Siha heath centre to a district hospital.

Responding, Kandege said the government has already set aside Sh1.5bn to be used for modernising and upgrading the infrastructure at the hospital.

He said it was the responsibility of the government to ensure that the hospital is upgraded to a district hospitals and that district hospitals be raised to referral hospitals depending on the number of patients being attended to.

The deputy minister was responding a question earlier raised by special seat legislator Esther Michael Masi (CCM)
