PREMIER Kassim Majaliwa has directed the ministry of home affairs to look into claims that some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) were operating in the country contrary to their registration.

He was speaking in parliament today during an impromptu question asked to him by Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) legislator for Longido, Steven Kiluswa.

The premier said security organs need to monitor NGO’s activities in the country and ascertain whether their activities tally with their registration purposes.

Majaliwa said about 39 registered NGO had flouted rules of their operations and ventured into businesses contrary to their registrations in Longido district.

He was responding to a question earlier directed to him by CCM legislator for Longido constituency Steven Kiluswa who wanted to know steps taken by the government to against NGOs going against their requirements.

According to the premier, three NGOs had already been suspended from conducting their activities in the Longido district.
