A Member of Parliament for Ukonga Constituency, Mwita Waittara has said today in parliament that lack of police patrol vehicles in the area threatens closure of CRDB branch in Chanika area in Dar es Salaam.
Waitara raised a question to the ministry of Home Affairs asking steps taken so far to provide enough police patrol vehicles in the area to increase security.
He said places like Mazizini, Msongola, Kitunda, Pugu Kajiungeni, Kivule and Moshi bar are insecure at night.
Responding, the deputy minister for Home Affairs Hamad Masauni said the government has planned to reduce various challenges facing the ministry including patrol vehicles.
“The most disturbing challenge is insufficient police patrol vehicles in various areas in the city,” the minister said.
He said the government will ensure all the problems facing the ministry are resolved in the coming financial years.
Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) legislator Catherine Magige including her counterpart special seat Jadi Kadika from Civic United Front (CUF), also raised a question wanting to know plans by the government to employ more police forces to curb criminal acts in various places in the country.
Responding, the deputy minister Hamad Masauni said the police force has already commenced recruitment and the President John Magufuli approved the employment of 1,500 officers.
