Bunge news: MP queries governments’  dependence on municipals income

LEGISLATORS have demanded explanations from the government’s move on its decision to collect the councils income making them unable to implement various economic development.

The MPs demanding explanations included Handeni legislator Omar Abdalah Kigoda, Mlalo constituency legislator Rashid Shangazi and Tabora urban legislator Emmanuel Adam Mwakasaka all from Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

Responding, the deputy minister for Local Government and Regional Administration George Kakunda said the government’s move aims at increasing incomes to its coffers.

He reminded district executives to ensure they set aside 10 per cent from their collections to youths and women fund saying many district councils were lagging behind  to fund youths and women in their constituencies.

The deputy minister also directed district executives to ensure they issue loan without discrimination.
