PARLIAMENTARIANS today accused the police force for planting cases to innocent civilians upon arrests saying such a trend was painting a bad image to the force.
They said some unfaithful police officers were harassing and mistreating innocent civilians for their own personal gains at work.
Iringa Urban legislator for Chadema Rev. Peter Msigwa raised the question in Dodoma today during a question and answer session.
He cited an example of some inmates who disclosed to him in remand prison where he was remanded for allegedly conducting illegal demonstration including six other party members.
Responding, deputy minister for Home Affairs Hamad Masauni told the parliament that any individual who has been harassed and or been planted a case by officers need to report to authorities concerned for action.
“The court has procedures which acknowledges any demand forwarded by a client in court and is judged in accordance with the evidences tendered before the court of law,” he said.
Earlier, Tarime legislator for Chadema John Heche asked on behalf of Kibamba constituency legislator John Mnyika on why police officers in Tarime district are fond of planting cases against innocent civilians.
