JAPANESE International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is still conducting the feasibility study to beef up energy in Lindi and Mtwara regions.
He said prior to the study, the government has built eight power generating plants to replace dilapidated ones and recently bought other two electric generators to increase power production.
Deputy Minister for Energy Subira Mgalu said in parliament today that efforts to increase 300 megawatts to Lindi and Mtwara regions would end electricity problems in the region.
She was responding to a question earlier raised by Special Seat Tunza Malapo (Chadema) who wanted to know steps taken by the government to save the two regions from electricity blackouts.
She said the government was working hard to improve electricity in the two regions.
“We are also building a sub-station in Kibamba in Coast region, Ilala district areas such as Gongo la Mboto, Chanika and Mvuti,” he said.
She was responding a supplementary question earlier raised by Kibamba legislator for Chadema John Mnyika who wanted to know plans by the government to restore electricity in Kibamba constituency.
