The Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) national Chairman, President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli has been disappointed and irked by the ongoing debate over the addition of years of presidential term from the current constitutional term of five (5) years to 7 years.
President Magufuli said this when he met Chama Cha Mapinduzi Ideology and Publicity Secretary Hamprey Polepole at the State House, Dar es Salam today (Saturday).
In his statement to the public signed by the Director of Presidential Communications, Gerson Msigwa, Polepole said Dr. Magufuli has sent him to tell CCM members and the general public that he was not happy with the ongoing debate.
The Publicity Secretary said Dr. Magufuli wants the public and CCM members to ignore the debate because it had never been discussed at any party session and is contrary to the party (CCM) constitution and the constitution of the country.
Polepole added that Dr Magufuli has asked CCM members and Tanzanians not to accept being misled or swayed by things that are not vital and instead focus on the important agenda for building the economy and implementing the 2015 General election manifesto.
“Dr Magufuli has no plan and do not expect to increase the presidential term at any time during his leadership.
