The government intends to establish a new Police Regional Administration in Coast Region to curb the increased incidents of crime which face Mkuranga, Kibiti and Rufiji areas.
The Minister of Home Affairs Mwigulu Nchemba told the parliament in Dodoma today when he presented a budget of his Ministry for 2017/2018 that amounts Tanzania Tsh 930.3 billions.
He said criminal incidents have increased in the districts for 2016/2017 period and the government intends to curb the situation by bringing police services closer to the people so that they lived in peace and harmony. He added the island Mafia District will also be in that new Police Regional.
The Mminister told the Parliament that, Districts of Mkuranga, Kibiti and Rufiji which are in Coastal Region are under dangerous criminal incidents which include the killings of police officers, local government leaders and innocent citizens.
However the police force is currently under special operation in the area to restore normal life situation, he added.
The Minister also said the locals are scared to operate their local government authorities in fear of attacks from unknown killers.
