Huge fire which exploded Sunday night in Nairobi has left dozens of Lang’ata residents homeless.

Media reports said the fire razed down huge part of Lang’ata slum area, causing fear of causalities to villagers.

According to reports the cause of the fire which started around 21hrs rapidly scattering the area has not been known.

The deployment of the four fire extinguisher engines to snuff the huge fire could not bear much fruits because of the narrow path of the burning street.

Firefighters said they had difficulties accessing the site of the fire. “The engines cannot get in and the fighters are here making calls. There is no road there,” said Jack Okinyi, a resident at Southlands.

Police said they could not tell if there were casualties of the fire that broke out at about 9 pm

Huge flames of the fire emanated from the area as it spread fast.

He added that the fire spread fast due to heavy winds and presence of cooking gas that exploded in intervals as locals fought it with bare hands and other crude weapons.
