According to Mayor of Kinondoni Municipal Benjamin Sitta, women and youth who are begging in different streets and on roads within the city, will also be among beneficiaries of the loan provided.

Briefing journalists in Dar es Salaam, Sitta said the municipal has intended to remove all beggars on the roads, but instead of doing that by force, they have decided to empower them through provision of loans.

“Most of the beggars are women with children, some sends their children to beg. I believe that if beggars will be empowered they will quit begging,” he said.
