The government has commissioned all citizens who transfer messages or news reports through social networks across the country should register their platforms with immediate effect.
Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has issued a directive today and called upon owners of various social media including Video Facebook, blogs and Instagram’s not to post anything as from today.
Speaking at a press conference, TCRA’a engineer Francis Mihayo said that, this is in line with the newly introduced changes on Communication Act which is associated with different contents including the registration of information givers in these social networks.
“TCRA has announced that as from June 11th-15th all information givers who own respective social media described above should not post anything in these media platforms unless are registered as in accordance with the new Communication Act”, he said
He further clarified that, whoever will defy to comply by the order and set rules, legal stern measures will be taken against them.
However, engineer Mihayo could not explain into details effects caused as a result of the posting of this information to the Tanzania audiences.
