TANZANIA has embarked on a new awareness campaign on standards issues to small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) , primary and secondary school students at district levels countrywide.
Speaking to Azania Post in an exclusive interview the Corporate and Public relations officer at Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) Roida Andusamile, said earlier the campaign was conducted at regional level.

“We have now launched an awareness campaign at district level, and today we are here at Nzega district in Tabora region,” she said.
She said before Nzega they have conducted similar awareness education in Bahi district in Dodoma region and Manyoni in Singida.
According to her more than 1,600 people including students and entrepreneurs have participated in the campaign conducted in the said two districts.
More campaign will be conducted to some districts in Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Manyara later on this month.
Narrating, she said the campaign target students because they are good ambassadors in passing information related to standards to their fellows and parents.
The campaign kicks off amid booming Small and Medium Enterprising (SMEs) business ventures but very few of them observing standards in manufacturing, processing and packaging stages among others.
Apart from primary and secondary awareness campaign, the standard body has been conducting similar activities in higher learning institutions.
So far, the bureau has conducted the exercise at the Ardhi University (ARU), the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Dar es Salaam, Saint Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) in Mwanza as well as the College of Business Education (CBE) campuses in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.
