Police in Dar es Salaam has arrested 73 people over allegations of stealing vehicle spare parts.
The arrest was a fruitful of ongoing special operation conducted by the Police across the city of Dar es Salaam, which focuses on arresting people connected to the theft of automobile spare parts including buyers to such stolen spare parts.
“The detained 29 people were arrested from Kinondoni police region, Ilala region (33) whereby in Temeke region were 11; after inspection conducted by the Police found different vehicle spare parts at their residences,” Dar es Salaam special zone acting police commander, Lucas Mkondya announced.
Mkondya told journalists that among the spare parts found in an exhibit including Power windows (40), radio (12), side mirrors (92), door-locker (109), wiper switch (7), lights (105), bumper (4), left pumps (3) and air cleaner (1).
Other car spare parts are booster (3), show grill (6) and used tyres (2).
According to him, police continues to interrogate the suspects while investigation on the matter is under way.
