The Minister for Defense and National Services Hon. Dr. Hussein Mwinyi has hailed the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces for their efforts towards accomplishment of development targets aligned in the five-years national development plans for 2015-2020.

The Defense and National Service Minister said this Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the TPDF at that went alongside promotion of ten senior army officers from the rank of Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major Generals which was held at State House in Dar es Salaam.

He said, the defense sector is firm and diligent enough in implementing assigned various development projects targeted for the ministry.

The long service Senior government official in the ministry of Defence, Mwinyi said various successes attained in his ministry are the result of the highly code of discipline army had been embedded with.

“I have nine years serving for the defense ministry in a ministerial capacity in the country. So I know a lot about the soldiers and how they behave,” he said.

Also in attendance were the retired Lt. Generals at the ceremony who served in the rank of the Chief of Staff and who aired out their concerns to the newly appointed Chief of Staff advising him to perform his duties for the army and not otherwise.

“Always the power of the office is like a bond given to a person. So it’s best to look after them in proper ways so that you gain confidence from the people you rule,” said a retired Lt. Gen Samwel Ndomba.

He made it clear that, “leadership means serving the community diligently and without segregating the people irrespective of their religious affiliations”.
