THE Commanding –in- Chief and Tanzania’s President, Dr John Magufuli has ordered immediate employment of 3,000 new military men in the Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces (TPDF).

Dr. Magufuli issued directives today in Arusha, soon after he commissioned 422 TPDF officers into second lieutenant.

“I order the military to employ 3,000 into the TPDF and mostly should be those who attended National Service,” he said.

The President assured that his government is going to improve the armed forces to enable members to deal with any threats to the country.

President Magufuli noted that his administration is in a process to improve the military forces, including settling their unpaid bills.

“We will start working on your unpaid claims next week, so as to ensure that all military men conduct their activities more smoothly,” he added.

He thanked the military officers who are in working in various peace keeping forces outside Tanzania for their good work.

He also said the government was in plans to revamp economy through establishment of various development projects.

Some of the projects are road constructions, standard rail gauge, and purchase of six flights and construction of Stiggler’s gorge project.

Narrating, he said already the government has floated tender for the construction of long awaited power project in Rufiji area.

According to him once completed the project would solve the long time power crisis which the country is facing.

“In order to reach a middle sized economy country particularly we need to have reliable source of power, it is my belief that Stigler’s gorge is the answer,” he said.
