The newly appointed Zanzibar Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hassan Haji has pledged to fight corruption and dealing with terrorist indicators.
CP Haji said this Monday soon after being sworn in by the Tanzania Inspector General of Police, Simon Sirro .
CP Haji was appointed last week by President John Magufuli has also taken a public leadership ethical oath before the Secretary of Public Service, John Kaole.
He said he is going to implement all what the Police chief has instructed him.
“The IGP is our top boss in our police force. He has given me directives of the force priorities, so I will work according to the given directives of the boss so that all Tanzanians and Zanzibaris enjoy their peace and solidarity,” he said.
For his part, the IGP Sirro called on the new Zanzibar CP to address issues of terrorist indicators and corruption among others in the island.
Clarified he said some of the terrorist indicators means that there are incidents of which if well examined have elements of terrorism, like armed robbery.
“This is a global issue because they are giving us difficulties to understand, that is why I am telling you to work on them,” said Sirro.
For his part, the Secretary of Public Service, John Kaole has called on the new Zanzibar CP Haji to avoid violation of public service ethical practices for avoindance of confilct of interest.
"You have so many things to do. It is very possible there might happened conflict of interest from the duties you are executing . So ensure you avoid them,” he stressed.
