AHEAD of tabling its national budget this afternoon, Tanzania’s Minister for Finance and Planning Philip Mpango told the parliament this morning that the nation’s current poverty rate positions at 33.3 percent.

Mpango who explains the 2016/17 state of the economy, went further saying that the government’s plan is to reduce the poverty rate to 19.3 per cent and 15 per cent in 2020 and 2025.

He also said that Tanzania GDP grew on an average of 7.0 percent in 2016, which worth 103.44/-.

“Average per capita income has reached to TShs 2,131,299 compared to an average of 1,918,897 shillings in 2015,” the Minister said.

He added: “In 2016, the country’s inflation rate reached an average of 5.2 percent compared to 5.6 percent in 2015,”
