VICE President of United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan has assured the public that the government will continue improving agricultural sector so as to bring prospective impacts to farmers and its chain.
Speaking in Lindi during ceremony to mark climax of Nane Nane Exhibition held at National level today in the region, she urged farmers to continue cultivating various crops and the government would look for market.
“You have to improve farming, the government through Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) and other institutions would continue looking for the market of your produce,” she said.
The VP hailed Lindi and Mtwara regions for their decision to revive and improve cashewnut processing plants in their respective areas.
“Increase efforts in adding more processing factories that would improve the livelihood of farmers and a nation,” she added.
She also urged Mtwara and Lindi residents to protect environment against any hazardous activities caused by human activities.
For his part, the Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Charles Tizeba, said the government in collaboration with development partners has started taking measure to improve the agriculture.
“We have already issued guidelines on agriculture, fisheries and Livestock that would enable improve the sectors, hence life of Tanzanians,” he said.
Dr Tizeba hailed the World Food Programme(WFP) , Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and World Bank (WB) for their support in the agricultural sector.
