LOCAL ministers, Deputies, Permanent Secretaries Regional, District Commissioners and directors have been instructed to build a culture of giving feedback to citizens on development funds used in various development projects instead of waiting until when top government officials visit them.
The directives were issued by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa when talking to staff and councillors of Nyasa district at a meeting held in Mbamba Bay, in Ruvuma region.
“From now on I advise, all senior officials including ministers to directors and even the heads of departments to be providing financial reports which we send to implement projects because citizens have the right to know how we implement government commitments, "he said.
He wanted leaders, when are on official visits in rural areas, to explain the value of the work done and to explain when the projects will be completed.
"When you get an opportunity on any platform, use it to explain to the people the major works done by the government," he added.
"Tell them how much money the government has provided for the projects and for what,” he said.
