TANZANIAN President, Dr John Magufuli has said that he was shaken enough after formed three probe mining committee to in order to establish the truth of the business in the East African nation.
Speaking during an event to award presidential certificate of recognition to committee members, today in Dar es Salaam city, Dr Magufuli said the job was not good for them and himself.
A total of 29 members were awarded the certificate during a colorful event which was attended by various officials. However, Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Prime Minister Kasim Majaliwa did not attend the event.
“This job is not good for you because people would not like to see their properties or income are taken for the interests of public,” said Magufuli.
Dr Magufuli said he was shaken by various people soon after he announced the probe committee, but doing so for the interest of Tanzanians.
He commended all the committee members for their work done, saying it has helped the government to be in a right direction in dealing with mineral resources.
“We know each and everything from these people (from abroad) who were in the committee and were confident to win the battle”, he said.
Narrating, President Magufuli said Tanzania has experienced an increased monthly revenue collection which are used in various development projects.
“We have announced tenders for various projects namely standard railway gauge, buying new planes, Stigglers gorge, increase health budget, purchase of a new ship on Lake Victoria and rural electrification to more than 7,000 villages, where could we get such money if we do not have enough collection? He queried.
In April this year, Magufuli formed a committee of experts to examine mineral sands in order to establish the amount of minerals contained.
Committee members who received a certificate of recognition in today’s event are Job Ndugai, Prof Palamagamba Kabudi, James Mgosha, Dr Yamungu Kayandabila , Geofrey Mwambe, Prof Florense Luoga, Adejen Mwaipopo, Frank Luwashe, Moses E. Moses., Royal Liyanga, Andrew Mwangakala and Michael Jonathan.
Others are Prof. Abdulrahman Hamis Mruma, Prof. Justianian Rwezaura Ikingula, Prof. Joseph Bushweshaiga and Dr Yusuf Ngenya, Dr Joseph Yoweza Philip, Dr Ambrose Itika, Mohamed Zengo Makongoro and Hery Issa Gombela.
In the list there is also Prof Nehemia Osoro, other renowned members include Prof. Longinus Kyaruzi Rutasitara, Dr Oswald Joseph Mashindano, Gabriel Pascal Malata, Casmir Sumba Kyuki, Ms Butamo Kasuka Philip, Usaje Bernard Usubisye and Andrew Wilson Massawe.
