At least 10,000 people including Tanzanians are expect getting employment soon as the construction of crude oil export pipeline from Hoima-Uganda to Tanga-Tanzania will be launched by next week.
Presidents John Magufuli of Tanzania and his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni will launch construction of oil pipeline in Tanga on August 5, this year.
The project is implemented under the signed East African Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement (EACOP) by the Presidents Museveni and Magufuli on May this year.
A statement issued by State House detailed that the two countries will also reap social and economic benefits from the project including taxes, royalties and other activities around the project.
“The worth of the project is at $3.5 billion or Tshs 8 trillion, this is a project whose investment size is huge,” the statement says.
The pipeline as one of major projects to be undertaken by the fifth phase government since it came into power in November 5, 2015.
