TANZANIA Social Action Fund (Tasaf) in Morogoro Region has distributed a subsidy worth Tsh 16.7million to 512 members of Chamwino ward as the move to improve their livelihood.
The exercise which was done yesterday involved a big number of women, majority being elders who were taking care of their grandchildren.
Tasaf's facilitator, Judith Mbelwa advise the beneficiaries to ensure that they money they were receiving should work for the targeted purpose.
She said at Tupendane street where the first group was, that the beneficiaries were complaining that they are money was being reduced because they were ignorance of the types of beneficiaries who access the fund.
“You should note that there are two groups of beneficiaries –those who fall on subsidies with condition in that they must take and ensure their children attend school and clinic.
While the second group are those who fall on the ordinary group –those who are dependent without children,” she said.
According to Mbelwa if those under a conditioned group don’t fulfill the condition, then their money are cut by the system.
She advised them to use the money to invest in other areas doing charcoal business or vegetables so that they don’t finish everything before the other phase comes.
Speaking to the beneficiaries, the Municipal Mayor Pascal Kihanga warned them against misuse of the money saying they shouldn’t use it for drinking alcohol.
“If one is found –will be removed from the system. This money is provided to you for special purposes—just to help you survive. So make sure you follow the instruction,” he said.
