THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has apologies to its customers over disruption of its Tanzania customs integrated system (TANCIS) services.
According to TRA Taxpayers Education Director, Richard Kayombo, earlier the system collapsed yesterday but officials managed to restore it.
“We experienced similar problem today morning December 7, up to now a team of experts are working to address the problem”, he said.
Kayombo asked customers to remain calm, and apologized for the inconvenience caused so far which have also affected revenue collections.
The system is built on hi-tech principles with a view to increasing effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and reliability in the Customs administration.
Being a web based system TANCIS progressively facilitates paperless operations leading to a significant reduction in costs of doing business.
TANCIS has replaced the previous customs management system – ASYCUDA++ that has been in use in Tanzania since 2005.
He said TRA would continue to issue statement regarding the restoration measures taken, if the problem is fixed customers will be alerted.
