THE Tanzania Revenue Authority has announced March 5 to 9 next month a national Taxpayers’ Education and Services, week.
TRA Taxpayers Education and Services, Richard Kayombo said the week would include educating, listening to complaints, challenges and receiving feedback and ideas from taxpayers.
The director said the taxpayers’ education and service week would be held every three months to provide citizens the opportunity to increase awareness on various issues relating to tax.
Kayombo said the authority will educate the public on various issues including property tax, e-payment and remind them to always pay tax before the end of each financial year to avoid inconveniences.
According to him, traders will be thoroughly educated on the service charter that identifies the rights and obligations of the beneficiary and the service standards they should receive from the TRA.
"We will also educate taxpayers on correct use and importance of using EFDs,” he said.
The taxpayers’ education and service officer said citizens will also be reminded and emphasized on issuing and demanding of receipt whenever they make purchases.
Other activities that are expected to take place during the week include the registration of new taxpayers as one of TRA's commitment to ensure they register 1,000,000 taxpayers countrywide throughout the 2017/18 financial year.
“I advise all taxpayers to be present so that they can learn and raise their concern on various issues relating to tax collection,” he said.
