The Gairo district commissioner, Siriel Mchembe has ordered the arrest of all leaders who have misappropriated Sh32million meant for the construction of Idibo ward secondary school.

The DC made the statement on Sunday when she inspected the construction of the school which went alongside distribution of corrugated iron sheets and other construction materials for the completion of Idibo Police post.

Mchembe ordered the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau to arrest all school officials so that they are questioned about the use and theft of the funds that took place during the construction of the building.

"I have received a report from the Construction Committee which has revealed the theft of Shs12 million and controversial expenditure worth Sh20 million shillings. So I told PCCB and the Officer Commanding District (OCD) to arrest the suspect within seven days,” she said.

Despite some failures on the construction of the school, already three classes, toilets and administrative buildings have been completed.

At the same time the DC was received by the Gairo district ODC Ramadhani Katantu who appreciated the contribution of the equipment for the construction of Idibo Police Post.

Mchembe requested all ward residents to contribute for the finishing phase of the school and police post.

For his part, the Gairo district administrative secretary, Adam John called on citizens to work together with the government to bring about their development.

He explained that the district has within one years managed to open two ward secondary schools, Chagongwe and Chanjale and six laboratories.

“Children were walking a distance of almost 20 km to school. We than citizens for contributing to these projects,” he said.
