Tanzanian musician Banana Zorro sees himself flourishing in Live Music, nine years ago since formed the “The B Band” after being a Solo artist.
Banana whose father, Zahir Ally Zorro is a Music legend, decided to devote his time in building The B Band after the release his last album named “Subira” in 2007.
“Live music is my life, it is what keeps me alive and close to my fans. I am not thinking of quitting live music anytime soon, I am planning to live it up until my hair becomes grey at my 50s,” said Banana
Speaking about his music band, he said it performs in local and international venues by singing the songs which it has composed and playing cover songs, eventually creating positive reaction of an audience.
Banana who is a father of Randy and Jermaine, said through his kind of music he got lots of gigs and contracts but it happened that he found himself turning down a lot of contracts, because some wanted him to perform at a local club in the United States for a period of eight months, said “I look at some contracts and say No, this is very limiting.”
Banana who follows steps of his father Zorro, was introduced into the game after the release of his break out single ‘Anakudanganya’ with the group 'B Love M' in 1999 when he was a just secondary school student before coming with his best and loved song ‘Mama”.
The Band is made up of ten members: Lead guitarist Maneno Uvuruge, bass guitarist Josh Devine, drummer Huruma Sukari, sound engineer and keyboardist Ima K, Daudi Kabaka who plays the percussions, vocalists Ashura Kitenge (First Lady), Ismail, Nuruely, Chriss Music and Banana Zorro himself as the lead vocalist.
Banana attracted his young sister Maunda Zorro to love being a singer and she happened to be among best female singers.
Banana Zorro has numerous hits such as ‘Zoba’, ‘Nzela’, ‘Niko Radhi’, ‘Mapenzi Gani’ and the latest ‘Sitanii’ which is the single from his upcoming album.
