The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has given a gold certification to Dj Khaled’s 'Grateful' album that it has sold 500,000 units in the United States since its release on 23rd June.
Dj Khaled wrote on Instagram to thank his fans for the achievement, “Fan luv thank you GRATEFUL.”
The highlight single of the album is the star-studded feature ‘I’m The One’ where Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne provided solid rap verses as Justin Bieber killed the chorus. The single has been certified three times platinum by RIAA for having sold three million copies and currently has half a billion views on youtube.
RIAA counts single sales to attribute to total album sales where ten copies sold is equivalent to one album sold, thus ‘I’m The One’ itself has contributed 300,000 units. ‘Wild Thoughts’ which features Rihanna and Bryson Tiller and ‘Shining’ which features Beyonce and Jay-Z have also been certified gold.
Grateful is Dj Khaled’s tenth studio album and has been executive produced by his nine month son, Asahd Khaled. Dj Khaled recalls his son throwing up on him when mixing the song ‘Shining’ and calls it a blessing.
