If you have noticed when you talk about Hip-Hop in 2017, Kendrick Lamar’s name is likely to come into conversation.

The Compton-bred rapper along with DJ Khaled and newcomer Cardi B have each been nominated nine times in the 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

It is groundbreaking for newcomer Cardi B to be considered MVP Of The Year against heavyweights like Chance the Rapper, DJ Khaled, Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar.

The awards show will take place in Miami on October 6, and will premiere on the network on October 10. BET’s Connie Orlando released a statement to holding the awards show in the Florida following the devastation of Hurricane Irma.

“While BET is extremely excited to bring the BET Hip Hop Awards to Miami, we remain sensitive to the millions of victims affected by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey,” Orlando states.
