The number of countries which recognize Kosovo’s independence is likely to increase to 105 thanks to new initiatives by Germany.
Anadolu had reported that up to moment, Kosovo is recognized by over 100 countries including United States, Britain, France, Germany, and Turkey
Serbia, Russia, and China are among the countries which have not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence.
It was reported that the German foreign minister Sigma Gabriel had tried to persuade five European Union to recognize Kosovo
“Today in Belgrade, we pointed out that Serbia should accomplish the criteria of recognizing the independence of Kosovo through the rule of law,” Gabriel told reporters alongside Kosovar Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
“This is a precondition for them on European Union route. You can trust our support on this issue,” he added.

The foreign minister also emphasized Germany’s will to stay as a stable partner of Kosovo in political and economic areas.
Haradinaj, for his part, mentioned Germany’s contribution to the peace in Kosovo and the region.
He said they decided on the necessity of an ultimate solution between Kosovo and Serbia, and welcome it despite its time. We are determined in Europe perspective as Kosovo,” Haradinaj said.
Kosovo declared self-government from Serbia in 2008 but it has not been recognized by Serbia or five out of 28 EU member states.
