A more than eight hours raid on the ABC's Sydney headquarters has ended with Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers leaving with a haul of files related to the 2017 story series tagged the Afghan Files.
The AFP officers took with them two USB drives containing password-protected electronic files, which were sealed in plastic bags pending a two-week review by ABC lawyers before police can access them.
The ABC's lawyers will now analyse the documents to determine any privilege claims and assess whether they will challenge the terms of the search warrant.
The warrant names ABC investigative journalists Dan Oakes and Sam Clark and Director of News Gaven Morris. The series revealed allegations of unlawful killings and misconduct by Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan.
