THE government is set to buy maternal delivery medical kits to be distribute in all health centres in the country, the Minister of State for local government Selemani Jafo said today in parliament.
Jafo was answering to a supplementary question raised to him by Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) legislator for Ruvuma constituency Sikuzani Chikamba.
The legislator wanted to know plans by the government to distribute medical kits for women to the newly constructed health centers in her constituency.
The minister said the government has introduced an initiative to support health centres with medical kits and continue to build 210 health centres countrywide in 2018/19 financial year.
Earlier, CCM special seat legislator Angeline Malembeka wanted to know from the ministry of local government when the government finish the construction of health centres of Luhanga and Kiboga at Mvuti ward in Ilala district, Dar es Salaam.
Responding, the deputy minister in president’s office for local government and regional administration (TAMISEMI) Josephat Kandege said the government has already set aside Sh70m for the construction of the two health centres.
The deputy minister also said the government’s intention is to see that all wards in the country has a dispensary and health centres respectively.
He was responding to a supplementary question raised to him by a nominated legislator and a former first lady Salma Kikwete who wanted to know when the government will complete constructions of health centres within Lindi district.
