Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Dr. Hamis Kigwangalla has instructed all municipal councils in Tanzania to buy ambulances according to needs of their areas of authorities.
Dr Kigwangalla said today in Dodoma during question and answer session that the government had not planned to buy ambulances for almost two years now. Hence he said, it was a responsibility of Municipal councils to prepare budgets that accommodate solving ambulances problem in the country.
The Minister added once they get assistance of ambulances from stakeholders these vehicles should be distribute to needy areas in Tanzania rather than providing services only in urban areas.
He requested MPs to insist their Municipal councils to allocate ambulance budgets to improve health services in the country.
Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning Dr Ashatu Kijaji on her ministry’s position said there are plans to wave ambulances value-added tax (VAT), so that health services are easily available as promised by President Magufuli.
