UN urges Yemen war rivals to consider schools safe zones

The school year has just begun in Yemen, but with a civil war that has destroyed or damaged 1,600 schools over the last three years, it is very different from what pupils experience in most countries.

Lessons are held in shacks or under trees, and the teachers have not been paid for nearly a year.

The UN is calling on all warring parties in the country to consider schools safe zones.
