Iringa Urban Lawmaker Peter Msigwa (Chadema) was on Sunday September 24 night at 10.25pm released on bail after spending some hours under police custody following arrested for allegedly linking police with MP Tundu Lissu’s saga.
The Opposition MP was arrested when addressing a gathering in Iringa around 4pm by the head of criminal intelligence in Iringa together with other officers stormed the meeting and pulled him down from the podium and drove him to the Police.
Sources within the Chadema party reveal that Police is more interested in what they told KTN TV in an interview which aired last week.
Msigwa together with Arusha Urban MP Godbless Lema talked about Tundu Lissu’s issue, freedom, the role of MPs and shrinking democratic space in Tanzania.
According to Chadema regional youth wing (Bavicha) chairperson Leonce Marto, the bail was grated yesterday night after he secured two sureties Marto himself and Iringa Municipal Mayor Alex Kimbe.
