40 officials take part in Dar swimming clinic

About 40 participants are expected to take part in the FINA Swimming Official Clinic slated to begin today at the International School of Tanganyika (IST) in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) Secretary General, Ramadhan Namkoveka, named Navy Captain Olugbenga Akinsanya Lawal from Nigeria, who currently serves as CANA Liaison Officer Nigeria Aquatic Federation, as the instructor of the three-day clinic expected to reach its climax on Sunday.

“We expected all international officials who will take part in the course to arrive from yesterday and those who will pass clinic examinations will have opportunity to officiate national and international swimming games as per requirements of the world swimming governing body (FINA),” he said.

Adding, the TSA boss said the main objectives of the clinic are to promote and improve the quality of competitive swimming, increase participation and interest in Swimming as well as to encourage physical fitness.
