Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United this summer.
Philippe Lamboley, the French striker's agent, claims the decision has been made after eight months of unsuccessful contract negotiations.
Martial has been at United for three seasons but has struggled for regular game time for the most recent two of those and suffered a dramatic loss of form after Alexis Sanchez's arrival from Arsenal in January.
Martial's current Old Trafford deal runs until the end of next season and United have the option of extending that by a further year to 2020.
But Lamboley claims the former Monaco man is keen to move on in the next couple of months.
"After thinking about all the possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United," Lamboley told RMC.
"When Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make it (Martial) an important player."
Lamboley added: "It is a well-considered decision. He is under contract, United will have the last word and we will respect the decision of the club, it will go to the end of its commitment.
"We do not have the same vision on Anthony's future. Without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.
"I will not comment on the consequences of the January transfer window. Everyone will have his opinion, I think he must resume the course of his career. The time has come."
Martial has made a total of 136 appearances for United since his 2015 arrival, scoring 36 goals.
Tottenham are one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in signing him.
