ARSENAL boss Unai Emery has revealed he wants his players to be angry if they are subbed off - as he wants their reaction.

The Gunners have now won three in a row after beating Newcastle 2-1 at St James' Park.

Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil both scored before Ciaran Clark grabbed one back with seconds to spare as Arsenal won back-to-back away games in the Premier League for the first time since May 2017.

But despite the result, some fans are concerned with the manner in which club-record buy Aubameyang left the pitch after being subbed off.

The Gabonese hitman was taken off after 68 minutes and made it clear that he was not pleased with the decision.

But Emery is happy for his players to show discontent - as it means they want to play.

Emery said of the player's reaction: “It is normal.

“I want players when I change those on the field, and they are not in the first 11, to be angry, with ambition to play and help the team and to stay on the pitch.

“For me it is a normal situation.”

Aaron Ramsey was also hooked with ten minutes to spare, but the Spanish coach's decision was based on fitness over performance.

Emery said of him: “He played with (the Wales) national team too much and he asked to change.

“It was not a big problem but he was tired. I think no problem.”

The Gunners have bounced back from some early poor form in the season.

The Emirates outfit faced the two previous Premier League champions in Manchester City and Chelsea in a baptism of fire for the former Paris St-Germain manager.

Both games were lost but Emery has turned the club's fortunes around after wins against West Ham, Cardiff and now Newcastle.

They face Ukrainian side Vorskla in the Europa League at home on Thursday night.
