Cristiano Ronaldo was named 'best men's player' at FIFA's awards ceremony last month — and he'll be hoping to scoop the top gong in Paris.
The Real Madrid star is up against 29 of the world's best players in Thursday's ceremony.
Ronaldo pipped Lionel Messi (2nd) and Antoine Griezmann (3rd) in last year's ceremony and is the bookmakers' favourite to repeat that feat.
For the 2017 award, Messi is second favourite, Neymar third and Gianluigi Buffon is fourth.
We will bring you all the latest build-up to the star-studded event, as well as all the action when things get underway.
The winner is expected to be announced at 6.45pm UK time.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be awarded the Ballon d’Or award today for the best player in the world for 2017 on Thursday, which would equal Lionel
Messi’s record of collecting the prize for a fifth time.
The Real Madrid forward picked up his fourth award last year after topping the poll of 173 journalists.
Speaking after his 2016 win, Ronaldo said: I never thought in my mind to win four times the Golden Ball, so I am so pleased and so happy.
“I have the opportunity to thank all of my team-mates, the national team, Real Madrid, all of the people and players who helped me to win this individual award.
“As you can imagine I feel so proud and happy to receive this amazing and beautiful ball, I am so happy.”
