Antoine Griezmann's refusal to sign for Barcelona has opened up new possibilities regarding the reinforcements that the club will bring in for next season, and contact has been made with Bayern Munich for midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The footballer was trained in La Masia and knows Barcelona's game philosophy perfectly, and the Bavarian's haven't put the Catalans off pursuing the midfielder as they are planning their own staff regeneration.
Any transfer would only be a matter of reaching an agreement on the price and reversing the club's policy of not buying back academy players that have left the club to ply their trade elsewhere, something Pep Segura remarked upon shortly after joining the club.
Thiago's is not the only name that the technical department are considering however.
Frenkie De Jong, a footballer who currently plays for Ajax, is on their radar, as is Manchester City football player Ilkay Gundogan.
