CHAN 2018: ‘Superior’ Taifa Stars must beat Rwanda this evening to meet Uganda

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars is today facing Rwanda Football National Amabvubi in the confederation of African Nations (CHAN) at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

After today game the two teams will meet again in Rwanda where the winner will play the winning team between Uganda and South Sudan.

In a telephone interview, care taker head coach of the team Salum Mayanga said his charges are ready for the encounter and promised all Tanzanians that his side will emerge victors.

He said the players have been undergoing intensive preparations ahead of the game.

‘We are not underrating the visitors, but I can assure you that my boys are ready for this game and the return leg in Kigali, The COSAFA tournament in South Africa was a very good for us as it helped us prepare for CHAN events ‘said the coach.

In today game people should expect to see John Bocco back in the team, if he will play he will partner Symon Msuva.

Taifa Stars under Brazilian Trainer Macio Maxino qualified for the maiden CHAN finals which was held in Ivory Coast in 2008 and were eliminated in the group stages.

Since then the team has never qualified and this year many people expect the team to qualify for the finals, people are hoping this considering the recent performance of the team and also the calibre of players who are in the team.
