CRISTIANO RONALDO could leave Real Madrid for Manchester United this summer because of Neymar, according to reports.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo is being linked with a stunning Manchester United return following comments made after the Champions League final.

The 33-year-old, who failed to score as Los Blancos swept Liverpool aside, plunged his future into doubt by saying: “In the next few days I will give an answer to the fans that have always been on my side.

"It was very nice to be at Real Madrid, in the coming days I will talk about it more."

Many have been left shocked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to hint at a move away from the Bernabeu.

Yet Spanish outlet Don Balon say Real’s interest in Neymar is behind his thinking.

Ronaldo is known for his egotism as much as he is his outstanding ability on the pitch.

In the past, reports have claimed the 33-year-old has ensured Madrid stop pursuits of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar.

Don Balon say it is a similar case with the PSG forward, who Real want this summer.

Express Sport understands the Brazil international has been on their radar ever since he left Barcelona in August.

And Ronaldo reportedly does not want Neymar to sign for Los Blancos.

If he does, however, the 33-year-old is willing to leave.

And United appear to be his likeliest destination.

Over the weekend, it was reported Ronaldo had given United his word he would return this summer.

However, the Portugal international supposedly has two other offers to leave Real.

PSG are waiting to welcome him to the Parc des Princes, regardless of what happens with Neymar.

And, given Ronaldo’s previous comments about playing in America, MLS sides are also monitoring his situation.
