Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Real Madrid manager Zinedin Zidane to abandon their pursuit of Eden Hazard and focus on trying to land another Premier League star instead.
Ronaldo is a huge fan of Liverpool and Egypt player Mo Salah and wants to add him to the team, if not this summer, then the season afterwards.
The Portugal captain is someone who has a huge influence in the strategy for Real Madrid and by asking for a player, it will certainly have Florentino Perez thinking and possibly influenced by that.
Of course, that leaves Eden Hazard in tricky position, with the Chelsea winger claiming he would think about his future following the World Cup in Russia this summer, and it could well be the case that he decides to pen a new deal at Chelsea.
Thibaut Courtois had made noises about leaving – and then once his horror show at the Camp Nou made Real Madrid thinks twice, he then professed his loyalty to Chelsea, and claimed he would be there for the new season with or without a new deal.
That may be a boost for the Blues, but it begs the question of how much Eden Hazard is really rated in certain quarters – given Salah is no where near his age and is banging in goals, Hazard at 27-years-old is now having certain questions asked about him – and a good display at the World Cup will go a long way in showing how he really is world class and to show his doubters how wrong they are.
