Uruguay take on Egypt on Friday and the South American side could have a major advantage, with the Egyptian press almost certain that Mohamed Salah will miss out.
Since suffering a shoulder injury during the Champions League final, the player has apparently yet to have trained at the highest level.
According to el-ahly.com, the main media outlet for Egypt, he has a low chance of playing in Egypt's debut match.
However, despite having only a few minutes on the ball the Egyptian coach Hector Cuper said in a press conference prior to the match that he thinks the Liverpool man could feature.
"Salah is very good," he stated.
"He has been recovering very well and has already done training with us.
"He is ready to play and, unless some unforeseen event arises at the last moment, we are all optimistic that he is ready."
It's a very different view from the local press.
