The Barcelona superstar Messi scored his first ever goals past Gianluigi Buffon at the Nou Camp, with his brace contributing to a convicing 3-0 Barca victory  as they got their Champions League campaign off to the best possible start.

But Messi was also booked early in the second half for trying to get Miralem Pjanic booked by waving an imaginary card at referee Damir Skomina, for which he ended up in the book himself.

And when Messi put his hand on Skomina's shoulder shortly afterwards, plenty of minds who like to think of such things went straight a certain incident.

Because when Cristiano Ronaldo - a man who people often like to compare to Messi - gave referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea a shove in the Spanish Super Cup against Barca at the start of this season, he was both sent off and hended five match ban . Unsurprisingly, the people of Twitter remembered.
